In May 2009 the Orlando Circle of Friends performed it's first full length concert to a sold out house. Simply named Debut, it featured a variety choral pieces with the evening rounded out by members performing some of their favorite songs. A great time was had by all. A portion of the proceeds went to The Place of Comfort, a place for people living with aids and caring for each other.
In December of 2009, we performed our holiday concert, Toyland. After all aren't we all kids at heart? We chose the Orlando Youth Theater, our host site for our events, to receive a portion of the proceeds that were generated.
On February 6th we preformed a cabaret show to a sold out audience, where the audience enjoyed wine and chocolates to the theme of LUV SUX. A variety of songs were performed including Crazy, I’m Gonna Miss Her, Love You Didn’t Do Right by Me and Is You Is or Is You Ain’t My Baby. Laughs, jokes and parodies were also shared. Proceeds help us to continue with our mission and vision. Little did we know, but this crazy landmark show was the first of what would be an annual tradition for the Chorus.
Well, yes, you guessed it! The Chorus preformed music from the movies. With members wearing some of their finest red carpet attire, we sang of cars, working 9-5, sisters, tramps, bugle boys and Bond, James Bond. This time we partnered with Joy MCC HIV Outreach Ministry. This group is dedicated to and provides support to those individuals affected and infected by HIV/AIDS and promotes HIV prevention.
On Feb 12th the Orlando Circle of Friends Chorus performed it's Luv Sux Redux Cabaret show to a sold out audience. Great fun was had by audience and performers alike as we sang, joked and poked fun at the misery of love.
We traveled yet again in this Spring concert, journeying across the USA from Florida to California, NY and Washington, DC; singing songs that made these cities and states famous. Our charity for this concert was Freedom Ride.
The Orlando Circle of Friends jazzed up the holidays with our winter concert by taking our favorite tree-trimming tunes and adding some smooth harmonies and jazz styles. We were pleased to donate a portion of the proceeds from these performances to New Hope for Kids, a charitable organization that provides support to children grieving the loss of loved ones or dealing with terminal illness.
The Orlando Circle of Friends performed songs about the misfortunes of love, sung by the wrong people. We entertained the sold out crowd with our mismatched singers and songs who bemoaned the horrors of that fateful February Day.
The Chorus performed songs sung on the Vegas Strip. There was singing, comedy and games that made for a magical time. Just remember – what happens in Vegas, STAYS in Orlando. We once again partnered with New Hope for Kids.
The start of our fifth season brings many exciting new beginnings. We have moved to our new home at The Suntrust Auditorium inside The Orlando Museum of Art. To appreciate the beautiful sound this auditorium produces, we honored it by performing a completely a capella show. This season's partnered charity is IMPOWER, an organization that helps children who are or have aged out of the foster care system. They continues to be a resource
